started fabricating the oil pan. I'm grafting the Toyota Tacoma 3.4 v6 oil pan onto the Volkswagen alh tdi oil pan.

Sunday, July 20, 2014

Put the engine in and bolted it to the transmission, next thing to do is fabricate engine mounts and cut a notch in the oil pan to clear the front differental and weld in some new steel.

Test fit the adapter, bell housing and starter. I had to grind down the adapter plate so the hard coolant pipe would clear (coolant pipe not in pic). In the pic you can see the bell housing sticking up above the plate, I had to grind that down also.

Test fit the Toyota R150 transmission bell housing, Acme adapters adapter plate and IMI performance hi torque clock-able starter. everything looks OK, once the engine is clean I will test fit to the engine.

cleaned the engine bay up a little, getting closer to bolting the engine in, then I can start fabricating engine mounts.

And here is the key to the whole swap, the adapter kit its from Acme Adapters, VW TDI to Toyota V6 transmission. Its a nice kit, adapter plate, custom made flywheel, pilot bushing, all bolts, starter spacer and lower cover.

Here is the oil pan, I got one made out of steel, because I will have to modify it to clear the front differential housing
Here is the clutch, its a clutchnet stage 1 rated @ 255 lb. ft. of torque, the throw out bearing is NACHI, pressure plate bolts are ARP

Here are the vehicle speed sensors. one is universal and fits inline the speedo cable, and one is made for the Japanese threads on the end of the cable. I'm probably going to use the threaded one, but I bought both because I had to order them from the UK.
